Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has a very large sea with various marine resources in it. The development of the canning industry is needed to support the use of marine products. Canning is one of the commonly used food preservation methods on an industrial scale. Various efforts have been made to optimize the canning process at PT. XYZ whose canning process uses a seamer machine. The optimization of the seaming process is carried out by paying attention to checking the strength of the seaming results by means of TEAR DOWN, for the checking method there are 2, the first external checking (external checking) includes checking: seam thicknees (T), seam width (W), can height (CaH) and countersink (CS) and the second internal checking (internal checking) includes checking: cover hook (CH) and body hook (BH). From the results of the process mentioned above, it can be known that the meaning of Double seam is the process of connecting the lid and body of the can with two Roll operations (First Roll and Second Roll). Good Over lap (OL) check results, with can size: 307 x 112 = 1.28 mm, 301 x 102 =1.32 mm, 211 x 109 = 1.32 mm, 603 x 408 = 1.54 mm, 603 x 212 = 1.57 mm.
